Forward into the Future...with Glad and Generous Hearts

Breathe on me, breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what thou dost love,
And do what thou wouldst do.
Through your generous giving,
the Implementation Committee
has been able to move forward
with many projects during the first year of the
campaign.
In the fall of 2007, the church hired Glenn Root as
our Minister for Children and Youth to revitalize and expand our youth ministry.
Also, the church made Dr. Jeanette Gross, our Minister of Music, a full-time employee, thus enabling us to expand our ministry through music.
The fourteen-bell Yale Memorial Chimes (originally installed in 1927 in our steeple tower) and the action system connecting the bells to the keyboard located in the tower were reconditioned.
The church and office building fire alarm system
(which was obsolete) was updated. A new control
panel was installed, the system was modified, and
eighteen key doors were equipped with electric
closers, which will automatically close the doors
to prevent a fire from spreading.
The church building electrical system was updated to separate the wiring to the Sanctuary panel and the Congregational Hall panel (which was replaced) and changes were made to prevent circuit overloading.
The Christian Education Office (originally built 1964) was renovated during the summer. The counters were moved, electrical was updated, walls were painted, cabinets were refinished, and a new floor was installed.
The kitchen has been modernized: ceiling, walls, and cabinets painted, tile grouted and cleaned, new hand sink installed, a supplemental hot water tank installed, sink drains repaired, stainless steel installed on the serving counter and the counter next to the stove and a Formica counter installed under the dish cabinets. In addition, the Women’s Fellowship has had a new center island installed.
In September, 45 new windows will be installed in The Meetinghouse. The new windows will help us to more efficiently heat the building.
In addition, the Trustees working with Implementation
are looking into having the brick work repointed, and the trim painted on the east and south sides of the church building later this fall.
Monies given to the campaign have also allowed us to start the Stephen Ministry which will train lay men and women to provide individuals in our congregation and community with confidential one-to-one Christian care and support when they are experiencing difficult circumstances.
A sincere thank you is expressed to all who have
contributed so generously to allow us to move forward with these projects which improve our facilities and strengthen our programs and outreach.
